Today's Craft: Make it golden

Update: I'm still alive. Yes I've taken a crazy break from blogging. Truly heartbreaking-- the last few months have left me uninspired and pretty inadequate. Hate to admit it but it happens to everyone and if you can't admit to something like that maybe you're afraid to change or grow. I know I was.

I recently got a new job as an Event Coordinator for Microsoft. Half the time I'm doing amazing event planning for networking events in other states and the other half is designing some collateral for the events. It's not hardcore graphic design by any means but it makes me happy that I'm doing something remotely close. This new job keeps me working from home but I'll be traveling in the next few months-- something I wasn't expecting but I'm truly grateful and excited to do.

Today's craft is a little gem for my home office. I needed a mousepad and didn't want to spend $20+ for one from UO or something. So I went to Daiso to see if I could get a basic mousepad and somehow make it "chic." Cause we love Chic.

Tip: Instant chicness is adding gold to pretty much everything. Got an old tomato can? Empty it, wash it and paint it gold. Boom stylish pencil holder. Got rocks? Paint it gold. Boom stylish paper weight.

Here's how I updated that mousepad.

Only $1.50 at Daiso!

I only had left over stamp ink for this project. I wouldn't recommend it because it started transferring. Try gold spray paint or acrylic.

You really don't need to spend that much money to make things special. Just make it golden.
